Here's my theory: When Desmond turned the failsafe key in the season 2 episode "Live Together Die Alone", he saw his life flash before his eyes, right? Well, in season 6, Desmond IS a failsafe, as Charles Widmore said. When he does his thing down at the Light in the waterfall, it was like the failsafe. Everyone's life is flashing before there eyes as the Sideways World, and when they die is the same moment that: 1) they're life stops flashing before their eyes, and 2) they remember everything. For example, when Sawyer and Juliet met by the vending machine, her sentence was switched back and forth with the sentence she said when she died in Sawyer's arms. That was her dying then, and it was the same time as her remembering everything with Sawyer. Desmond told Jack that in the Sideways Jack was there...and Desmond probably new that because he was still flashing back and forth between worlds, as in "Happily Ever After". Jack finally died, and at the same time remembered the island stuff in the Sideways. Everyone eventually dies, as Christian said, and when they all remember, then (based on this theory) they've all died, hence they are all at the church. This theory isn't entirely full proof, but it is only a theory. What do you all think?
